RAVENSCREST 2nd Edition
A downloadable game
Welcome to Ravenscrest. On the surface, it is a small, stagnant town nestled somewhere within the Pacific Norwestern region of the United States. As a high schooler living there, you are likely all too familiar that this description is the understatement of the millenia. In fact, bad shit happens in the region around Ravenscrest that the government(?) has even taken interest in the strange occurences.
Spoiler: It's nothing good.
Best played amongst 2-5 people, Ravenscrest is a A rules-lite, d20 based tabletop game designed with simplicity and scares in mind; providing you the framework to tell stories around your table within the realms of both classic horror films and modern iterations of nostalgic terror.
If your group of friends enjoy things such as Friday the 13th, Halloween, Stranger Things, or even IT: Chapter One, then you've come to the right place.
Ravenscrest draws on mechanical inspiration from games such as Electric Bastionland by Chris McDowall, using only a few simple stats and a handful of dice. The rules are meant to get out of the way and let you focus on the narrative and drama built amongst the players and GM.
The first Version of Ravenscrest was a single, double sided pamphlet, but the new edition is 40 pages of illustrated work, expanding on the original premise.
Amongst the additions you will find Tables, example Threats, equipment lists, Optional rule changes for playing as kids with supernatural abilities, and more! If you are familiar with the first edition, then you are already familiar with the basic premise, but there is quite a bit of new information to bolster and upgrade the original ruleset.
Ravensbrook is my love letter to the classic horror genre, inspired by my own experiences living in a small town surrounded by forests, the independent horror film I worked on with Witching Season Films, as well as the games that I play with my own friends on the weekend. This is also a game that will see several expansions booklets over the next coming months so keep your eyes on the horizon!
Good Luck Surviving until Graduation.
**Note. If you choose to print the book from home, it is intended to be bound w/Japanese stab binding. Print each page double sided, not as a booklet. The book isn't laid out in standard upright zine format.
