It is the golden age of piracy, and you are being shipped back to the gallows.
Escape your captors, contracted by the Crown to hunt you down. Secure a new ship. Form a new crew. Find the treasure at the end of the map that your dead captain left behind. Maybe retire and live a good life in comfort after that? Who knows, you're a pirate. Do what you want!
This rules-lite system is built on a foundation of two dice, the mighty d8, and it's bite-sized sibling, the d4. Each player uses these two dice when interacting individually. HOWEVER! A ship only sails when it's crew works as a team, so during sailing and naval combat, the system evolves into a dice pool of every Players' d8, collaborating as a group to make decisions for the sake of everyone.
